90 Joyful Minutes Of Writing For Your Wellbeing, Guided by Dr Megan C Hayes

You are invited to enjoy a joyful 90 minutes of writing for your wellbeing, guided by Dr Megan C Hayes. Together we will explore and discuss the different shades of our positive emotions and how they might find their way into our everyday writing. The final 30 minutes will offer an inspiring Q&A session around how we can utilise writing to flourish in our lives.
• [6-6.30pm] In our first thirty minutes together, Megan will guide you through a warm-up writing activity, as well as briefly introduce her work and research. We will discuss some of the common preconceptions around “positivity” and consider writing as a way to access our inner resources.
• [6.30-7pm] Next we will look at all the ways in which writing may already play a role in our lives: email, correspondence, to-do lists… and think about how we might make these everyday habits a whole lot more fortifying.
• [7-7.30pm] Finally, we will try some fresh new ways of writing for our wellbeing, discovering how we can let writing be what we need it to be. Once we’ve had a go at some practical writing prompts, we will talk about what works, what doesn’t and hopefully leave with a tailored set of tips for using writing as a supportive tool in busy lives.
• [7.30-8pm] The session will include a final 30 minutes of questions and discussion in this warm, supportive space.
Megan is an author, researcher, creator of PositiveJournal.org, and teacher of joyful writing habits. Her PhD explored the links between writing, psychology and happiness and her latest book is titled The Joy of Writing Things Down.
